About the Department

School of Natural Sciences

The Department of Mathematics, established in 2011, is one of the founding departments at the Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence. Our faculty are active researchers in diverse areas including functional analysis, optimization, algebra, complex systems, artificial intelligence, mathematical finance, probability and statistics. This research is integrated into the B.Sc. programme through undergraduate thesis projects, leading to higher degrees, placements and internships. Our mission emphasises rigorous learning in fundamental mathematics and emerging technologies, bridging pure and applied mathematics, and providing training in computing skills. Students from a variety of backgrounds benefit from interdisciplinary courses that connect mathematics with data science and other fields.

Our Alumni

Paths after graduation

Our graduates continue to pursue advanced studies at top universities worldwide and build careers in industry. Recent alumni have joined institutions such as ETH Zurich, University of Münster, University of Alabama, RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau, Imperial College London and more.

We celebrate the diverse pathways of our alumni—many pursue higher degrees or research positions, while others apply their mathematical training in finance, technology, data science and other industries.
