Tentative plan

Elective Courses

This is a tentative semester-wise and specialization-wise plan for UG Mathematics elective planning. Offerings may change depending on faculty availability, student demand, scheduling constraints, and normal administrative approval.

Important: Treat this as a planning guide, not a guaranteed final list. Students should verify the current semester offerings before making registration decisions.

Planning Labels

How to read this page
Label Meaning for planning
Every Monsoon / Every Spring The course is expected to be offered in that semester every academic year, subject to faculty availability and normal administrative approval.
Alternate Spring The course is expected to be offered once every two Spring semesters, depending on demand and staffing.
On demand The course may be offered when there is sufficient student interest and a suitable instructor is available.
Under process / To be decided The course or track is not yet finalized and needs further departmental approval or scheduling decision.

Geometry

Tentative pathway

Geometry electives provide a pathway from multivariable calculus and manifolds to advanced topics such as Riemannian geometry, Riemann surfaces, Lie groups, representations, and vector bundles.

Other Elective Options

With approval

Other Mathematics electives may be offered outside the tracks above when there is sufficient student interest, an available instructor, and departmental approval. Students may also request guidance on how a proposed elective fits their programme plan or specialization pathway.

  • Use this option for electives not listed in the tentative plan.
  • Include your batch, completed prerequisites, preferred track, and the elective area you want to pursue.
  • Final approval depends on departmental scheduling, credit rules, and course availability.
